Audition: date and time tbd
Location: tbd
All interested dancers must fill out the dancer audition form. Coming soon!
This is an opportunity to connect with choreographers looking for performers.
Click here for full information on health and safety protocols for NACHMO DC.
If you cannot attend the audition in person, your contact information and video links will be shared with interested choreographers.
The audition will include a variety of dance techniques and opportunities for improvisation to give choreographers opportunity to see dancers perform a range of styles.
Choreographers will observe the class and will have a short time (30 seconds) to summarize their planned pieces.
Dancers are encouraged to reach out to choreographers with whom they are interested in working; contact information will be shared after the audition.
Friends & Family Showing: Saturday, January 31, 2026 (12:00-10:00)
Location: Dance Exchange
This event is the culmination of the NACHMO January Challenge, where choreographers present their work to our panel of adjudicators and fellow NACHMO artists.
There will be a series of shorter informal showings over the course of this weekend. We ask that choreographers and dancers hold this weekend open until show date and times are confirmed.
This in-person presentation is required for a piece to be eligible for selection for the NACHMO Sampler Showcase in February.
In the week following the showings, choreographers will receive feedback as well as notification of whether their work was selected for the NACHMO Sampler Showcase.
You are not required to stay for the entire time—the time slot for your assigned showing will be announced in mid-January. You are welcome (and encouraged) to stay for all showings and support your fellow NACHMO artists.
The showing is open to friends and family.
NACHMO DC Sampler Theater Show: Sunday, February 15, 2026 (6:00 - 8:00 PM)
Location: Atlas Performing Arts Center, Sprenger Theatre
This is a public showcase of selected works created during the NACHMO DC January Challenge.
Pieces will be chosen for this show based on several factors, including recommendations from our panel of adjudicators, level of piece development, and representation of the breadth of NACHMO DC work.
NACHMO DC 2026 is presented with support from the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities.
