      <image:title>Repertoire Gallery - Mine/Field</image:title>
<image:caption>Collectively choreographed, Mine/Field has always belonged to Glade's audience and community. It started with appeal to the community, continued with data and secrets on paper at Glade's 2015 Gala, and flourished when guest dancers joined and Capital Fringe Festival 2015 approached. Mine/Field, a modern dance about data privacy, national security, and vulnerability, features "exquisite geometry" (DC Metro Theater Arts) and is a "breath of fresh air on an often stale topic" (DC Theatre Scene). See photos by Rob Cannon. Listen to the music of Mine/Field on Spotify. Read more on Washington City Paper about how we collected and analyzed data in this piece. <image:title>Repertoire Gallery - Speak</image:title>
<image:caption>In 2014, choreographer Lauren Borchard started with the process - manipulating dance movement as if the dancer were learning to vocalize that phrase for the first time. What arose was a dance about learning how to communicate - sometimes your conversations go well, and sometimes they utterly fail. Designed for between two and six dancers, Speak is versatile and intimate.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Connections, premiered at Dance Place in August 2013, explores how we connect and disconnect to space, to others, and to ourselves. To develop this evening-length piece, Glade sourced movement both in and outside of the traditional rehearsal process, finding inspiration from and collaboration with loved ones, audience members, and strangers alike throughout the creative journey. It features audio from friends and audience members describing their own ways of connecting, plus a focus on improvisation guarantees that every performance will be unique.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Wall is an emotional work that explores the effect of enforced policies of separation on people's lives, focusing on the experience of those living with the separation wall in the West Bank. When a wall goes up, who is walled in, and who is walled out? Led by Betsy Loikow, Glade dancers have explored this topic over the past year through music, poetry, film and narrative accounts of life in the shadow of the wall and its checkpoints. Glade has worked with local Palestinian dabkeh dancer and choreographer Rania Kiblawi to find movement for the piece and taken special inspiration from the writings of Read a review of a past performance of The Wall. <image:caption>Becoming a Glade staple - performed at least once a year - Glade originally created this work for the 2010 Eureka Dance Festival. Combining media, voice and dance, this piece examines the ways that music and dance are a part of the breath and life of our nation's Capitol. These art forms can connect and divide us, but they are an ever-present, and often-forgotten, part of life in every corner of this city. <image:caption>Shauna was taken to see Nutcracker at age 3 and said, "I want to learn how to do that!" Since then she has studied ballet, modern, jazz, tap, hip-hop and west African dance, although her favorite will always be modern. She has never been capable of sitting still. Shauna left her hometown near San Francisco to attend Brown University and study geology. While there, she continued dancing and performed in several faculty and student pieces. She stayed in Rhode Island for 6 more years, working as an environmental geologist and dancing with Fusionworks Dance Company, where she also made costumes and was secretary of the board. In 2010 Shauna choreographed Snooze, which was set on Fusionworks II, the apprentice company. In 2011, Shauna moved to Washington, D.C., to attend the George Washington University master's program in Museum Education. Shortly after arriving, she discovered the joyful haven that is Helen Hayes's modern dance class and has never looked back. In 2011-2013 she participated in four CREATE choreography workshops, facilitated by Michelle Ava and the late Jeffrey Strum. Recently, Shauna and other students from the CREATE program formed More2Dance, an ensemble that is striving to continue developing their choreography and collaboration skills. When she's not dancing, Shauna works at the National Air and Space Museum as an astronomy educator, showing visitors the wonders of the Universe and finding new ways to mix creativity with science.</image:caption>
